Tightrope Walker / Balance Game
In I Could not Find Something to Show/ Gösterecek Bir Şey Bulamadım, I explore the crisis that arises at the intersection of social expectations, identity labels, and self-expression. By examining my personal experiences, I question the authenticity of self-description and reflect on the motivations behind these acts, drawing inspiration from Guy Debord‘s The Society of the Spectacle. The installation delves into the friction between inner authenticity and external perceptions.
During the performance, inside the costume representing my skin and expression, I search for something to satisfy the identity expectations of others toward me. This searing heat is oppressive, constantly stinging and itching. The more I fail to live up to expectations, the more it intensifies. With the hysteria that occurs in this loop, I take off the costume and put it on backwards.
Seems like we get lost in an endless loop.

Within the changing room-like installation, the video displayed by the projector stands in front of the audience, creating the illusion of my performance being reflected by the audience.
