the Play (continuing, since 2015)
is an installation with series of video performances. The work continuous based on my daily experiences.
The work is about the language of the mass media. I am trying to question the methods of the media and their effect on the audience of the media.
During the performances, I am playing a children’s game. To play this game, a person selects a word and repeats it until they become alienated.
For my current performances, I chose two cliche words from German and Turkish media:
Video I: It has been made in 2015*, reproduced in 2019.I chose ‘terrorist’ as a word. In the video, I am speaking in Turkish.
Video II: It has been made in 2019. I chose ‘Ausländer' as a word. In the video, I am speaking in German.
