The work is an experiment to observe the communication between public space and the person. As an individual also international/immigrant resident, I tried to be part of the public space and transform it with my own expression.
With the work, I am also trying to understand where am I between the concepts of public space, public transformation and individual existence.
The movements of the performance come from the forms of three objects that at first I tried placed in the space before my performance.
Since I did not get permission to build, I decided to express the form of the object with my performance by mimicking them. So I transformed the space directly with my body.
The object (300-100-55 cm) consists of bricks, tiling adhesive, chrome coated iron profiles and mesh.
The videos are planned to show on three different screens with headphones. For this expression, they are shown -temporarily- with projecting on the wall.
During the experiment, I did 6 performances. The performances happened in U2 Zoologischer Garten.
From left to right: Video 1, Video 2, Video 3
On the 'video 1', I show my first performance. It has been interrupted by the U-Bahn securities. Despite the interruption, I finished my performance. But my moves were reformed.
On the 'video 2', I show one of my performances where I did in a different(hidden and unseen) part of the U-Bahn stop with the new movements.
On the 'video 3', I show my last performance. For this one, I went back to the first place where I did my first attempt. This time securities did not interrupt the performance. They were even mentioning that they know me and I am doing it regularly. Thus, I managed to do the performance one after the other with the new movements and the movements that I wanted to perform at first.
With the digital print collages, I refer to the process of the work. They consist of images from the public spaces that were transformed. I used found images, screenshots from Google Earth & Google Map and some images I took.
They are printed in three different A2 size paper.
